Dahlonega, GA

Dahlonega is Georgia's Gateway to the Appalachians and the first site of the U.S. Gold Rush. About 20 years before California's Gold Rush the cry of "There's gold in them hills"  could be heard through our area. Now it is known as Lumpkin County. Dahlonega's commercial district, including the public square, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A visit to the public square would not be completed without stopping by the Gold Museum.

For sports enthusiasts, the premier sports bicycling venue in the Southeast as the Tour de Georgia ends here each April. Hiking, camping, sight seeing, and gold panning are but a few of the activities visitors to Dahlonega will find awaiting them.

In June 2007, "U.S. News & World Report" voted Dahlonega the 3rd most economical retirement location in the county. The story appears in the June 2007 issue of the publication. Economical and beautiful are two of the qualities that make Dahlonega a place to visit or call home.
