Brevard, NC

Brevard is the home of the Cradle of Foresty, the site of the first forestry school in America, founded in the early 1900's.  More than 50% of Transylvania County is covered by three parklands:  Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest, and Gorges State Park.  Transylvania County is nicknamed "Land of Waterfalls, as it is home to over 260 falls. It has the highest rainfall of any county east of the Rocky Mountains,also the best water quality in the state of North Carolina, and a portion of the Pisgah National Forest is considered a rainforest due to its high annual precipitation levels.

Directions:  From the intersection of Hwy 64 and Hwy 276 in Psigah Forest, head north on Hwy 276 for approx. 7.5 miles to the recreation area on the left.







Looking Glass Falls
Well know and visited, one visit will tell you why

No hike neccesary, roadside
Directions:  From the intersection of Hwy 64 and Hwy 276 in Pisgah National Forest, drive North on Hwy 276 for approx. 5.5 miles to the pull off area on the right.
